Removals across Harrow, without the theatre

We survey the house, measure what is in it, look at the access at both ends, and send a written number. Then we turn up with the right vehicle and the right number of people. That is the whole method, and most of the trade's problems come from skipping the first half.

The thing worth saying loudly

No estimate, no quote

We will not price a Harrow move from a bedroom count over the phone. Not because we are being difficult, but because a three-bed semi with a converted loft, a full garage and a shed is a different load from a three-bed semi without them — and both are described the same way in a thirty-second call.

A guess produces a vehicle that is too small, a crew finishing in the dark, and an invoice that grew. Twenty minutes of surveying removes all three.

How a Harrow move runs

  1. 01

    We survey before we price

Video call for most addresses, in person where the stair or the approach earns it. Free, and it obliges you to nothing.

  2. 02

    We measure the whole house

Including the loft, the garage and the shed — the three things that never appear on a floor plan and always turn up on the day.

  3. 03

    We look at both ends

Floor, stair, lift, driveway, street width, whether the road is controlled. The far end decides the crew as much as the near one.

  4. 04

    You get a written number

Volume, access, packing and distance. It holds unless what is coming changes.

  5. 05

    We handle the admin

Permits where the street is controlled, and managing-agent correspondence where a building needs the move booked.

  6. 06

    Then we turn up properly

Right vehicle, right number of people, protection on before anything moves, materials away when we go.

Coverage

Harrow & north-west London

HA1, HA2 and HA3, with the Pinner, Stanmore and Preston Road edges around them.

There are two Harrow firms on this network

The other one — harrow-removals.co.uk — works the same town in a quieter register, writes up Harrow-on-the-Hill, the town centre, Wealdstone and Rayners Lane rather than our four, and has its own crews. If you have already had a survey from them, take their quote: two proposals from the same family of firms tells you nothing useful. Northwood and Edgware have their own sites, and a genuinely London-wide move belongs with our pan-London sister sites.

Removals from Harrow to Europe

Four destinations, run often enough that the customs process is familiar rather than researched. The file is prepared from the same survey that priced the move.

Asked and answered

Before you get in touch

01How is a quote worked out?

Volume measured room by room, access at both ends, how much packing you want, and distance. Four inputs. Nothing about urgency, nothing about the season, and nothing about what another firm said.

02Is Harrow easy to move in?

Mostly. Metroland semis have driveways and wide roads, which is more than most of London can say. The exceptions are the Hill lanes, the controlled streets near the centre, and mansion-block lifts that were never sized for wardrobes.

03What gets underestimated?

The loft, the garage and the shed. All three are common on the stock here, all three are coming, and none of them appear on a floor plan or over the phone.

04Is there another Harrow firm on this network?

Yes — harrow-removals.co.uk. Same town, different crews, a quieter way of presenting the same trade. We would rather tell you than have you work it out.

05Do you do first-home moves?

A good share of the work. They are usually a bedroom's worth of things plus whatever was bought for the new place, which is a van job rather than a removal — and we will say so.
