Questions

What people ask, answered plainly

Asked often enough to be worth answering properly.

01

How is a quote worked out?

Volume measured room by room, access at both ends, how much packing you want, and distance. Four inputs. Nothing about urgency, nothing about the season, and nothing about what another firm said.

02

Is Harrow easy to move in?

Mostly. Metroland semis have driveways and wide roads, which is more than most of London can say. The exceptions are the Hill lanes, the controlled streets near the centre, and mansion-block lifts that were never sized for wardrobes.

03

What gets underestimated?

The loft, the garage and the shed. All three are common on the stock here, all three are coming, and none of them appear on a floor plan or over the phone.

04

Is there another Harrow firm on this network?

Yes — harrow-removals.co.uk. Same town, different crews, a quieter way of presenting the same trade. We would rather tell you than have you work it out.

05

Do you do first-home moves?

A good share of the work. They are usually a bedroom's worth of things plus whatever was bought for the new place, which is a van job rather than a removal — and we will say so.

06

Does a survey cost anything?

No, and it obliges you to nothing. Video call for most addresses; in person where the approach or the stair earns it.

07

Do you arrange parking permits?

Where the street is controlled, yes — the town centre, the station roads and parts of Wealdstone. The council wants notice, which is why we ask for the date early.

08

Will a large vehicle reach my road?

Almost everywhere in the suburb. On the Hill lanes sometimes not, and then the honest answer is a smaller vehicle doing two runs, said in advance rather than discovered halfway up.

09

Are my things insured?

Goods in transit and storage cover are in place, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey and we confirm in writing what applies.

10

Do you pack?

Full, part or fragile-only. Most people do the books and clothes and leave us the kitchen, the glass and the pictures. Materials go when we go.

11

Can you store between completions?

Containerised storage — wrapped, listed on an inventory, sealed and racked indoors, collected as part of the move.

12

Do you move pianos?

Uprights routinely. Grands are assessed first; out of a mansion flat with a tight lift we would rather bring in a piano specialist than improvise.

13

What happens if completion slips?

The load stays on the vehicle or goes into store overnight rather than onto a driveway. We tell you what that means plainly rather than sending a surprise invoice.

14

Do you move offices?

Small commercial — units around Wealdstone and Kenton, practices and offices near the centre. Out of hours usually suits everyone.

15

Do you cover Pinner, Northwood or Edgware?

The edges. Northwood and Edgware have their own coverage on our network and we do not poach them. For a London-wide move our pan-London sister sites are the better fit.

16

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as the date exists, even provisionally. Fridays and month-ends go first everywhere.

17

Can you collect from two addresses?

Yes — two households merging, or a house plus a storage unit emptied on the way. Mention both so the route is costed from the start.

18

Who does the customs paperwork on a European move?

We do, built from the survey inventory. Each of the four destinations has its own transfer-of-residence process and they differ more than people expect.

19

Why does the site look like this?

Because there are two Harrow removals firms on this network and a visitor deserves to be able to tell them apart at a glance. This one is the loud one.

Still not answered?

Put it in the notes on the quote form. Services covers what we do, coverage covers where, and European removals covers moves that leave the country.

Both addresses, what is coming, and your date. We survey, check the access and send a written quote.
